Sugar Loaf Mountain Herbs celebrates its 10th spring season this year. Each spring at the shop, owners Alicia and Gene Frosini offer their own organic potted herbs and flowers grown right in Sugar Loaf and always are happy to lend their gardening expertise. “Here you will find a quality collection of garden essentials including organic fertilizer and potting soil,” says Alicia. Inside the shop, which is open year round, their repertoire of organic spices, dried herbs and teas continue to grow.
The store also offers an assortment of herbal products from companies who also support sustainable agriculture and Fair-Trade practices. During the winter, free demonstrations are held to encourage customers to learn about health topics such as making elderberry syrup, growing indoor sprouts, and how to brew loose tea. “Herbs, spices and tea have many uses,” explains Alicia. “From nourishment and flavor enhancement to relief of ailments such as inflammation, allergies, stress and sleep disorders.” Sugar Loaf Mountain Herbs is committed to helping customers discover and enjoy the many benefits. “We believe that growing herbs or enjoying simple herbal tisanes keeps one connected with the earth,” she adds.
Look for hardy herbs and perennials outside the shop later this month. Alicia's next workshop will be held April 24. See calendar for details.
