Seasons of Hope Calendar

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. To help change those odds, the talented portrait and fine arts photographer Kathie Austin of Kathie Austin Photography and award-winning author Tom Mattingly, who uses the pseudonym Matthew S. Field, have produced the Seasons of Hope 2016 Calendar.

The calendar features portraits and biographies of twelve local breast cancer survivors. Every breast cancer survivor has a legacy as a result of surviving diagnosis and treatment. More than 200,000 women in the U.S. will battle breast cancer this year and these 12 have chosen to share their inspiring stories.

Their legacies echo the goals of the Seasons of Hope Calendar—to create awareness, to foster prevention and early diagnosis, and to inspire hope for those that are recently diagnosed.

Not only are the 12 featured breast cancer survivors local to lower New York and northern New Jersey, but the creative team behind the project also is local and personally connected as Mattingly’s wife succumbed to breast cancer in 2004.

“We want Seasons of Hope to be a win-win-win for our community,” Mattingly says. “In addition to our stated mission for the project, we also will donate a generous portion of the proceeds to a local organization that helps families who face a breast cancer diagnosis."

Cost: $19.95. The 2016 Seasons of Hope Calendar currently is available at Ye Olde Book Shoppe in Warwick, at SeasonsofHopeCalendar.com and e-tailers like Amazon.com.
