Orange County in Bloom Art Exhibit

This July, the Wallkill River School of Art will be partnering with volunteers from Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners program to host the Orange County in Bloom art exhibit. This group exhibit will feature artworks depicting Orange County’s bounty, and floral arrangements interpreting those paintings, through flowers grown and arranged by the volunteer gardeners. The exhibit will be on display throughout July with a reception held on July 8 from 5-7pm. Awards will be given in 2 categories: best painting, and best floral arrangement.

For the past several years, The Wallkill River School, a nonprofit artist’s cooperative that runs a gallery and an art school, has been fortunate enough to work with several volunteer Master Gardeners of the Cornell Cooperative Extension, and other volunteer floral artists. At the beginning of every month, this group, referred to as the “Floral Divas” creates one-of-a-kind floral arrangements to compliment the current exhibits, utilizing flowers from both their personal and community gardens.

As an Organization with strong agricultural ties to the community, The Wallkill River School of Art hopes to use this competition to bring attention to the true beauty of our local agriculture, while highlighting the incredible volunteer work done by the “Floral Divas.” In addition to the competition, there also will be a solo exhibit of acrylic works by artist Naomi Genen. Admission: Free. Hours: Monday – Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.

Location: 232 Ward St., Montgomery. For more information, visit or their Facebook page or call 457-2787.
