Local Support and Advocacy for Women with Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer Options is an organization of survivor/advocates serving the Hudson Valley. We provide direct support, advocacy and education services to help women and their families become empowered health care consumers. All of our programs are free.

Services include peer-led support groups including a metastatic group (see website for locations); Camp Lightheart for the children of survivors or children who have lost their mothers; metastatic breast cancer retreat; annual Integrative Medicine Conference; BCO E-news (sign up on our website); healthy lifestyles calendar (informational digest on risk reduction & healthy lifestyles); and peer mentoring.

Breast Cancer Options’ mission is to educate breast cancer patients about effective treatment options, to advocate for and support informed patient choice and to promote public awareness regarding cancer risk reduction. A woman diagnosed with breast cancer suddenly is faced with some of the most important decisions she will ever make about her own healthcare. In deciding on a plan of action, it is important to understand that all questions are good ones, which information is credible and reliable, what statistics really mean, which lifestyle changes make a difference and how complementary medicine can be integrated in treatment. Breast Cancer Options is available to help with all of this. Women do not have to face all this, including physician visits, by themselves.

Their annual Integrative Medicine Conference will be held on Sunday, October 22 at SUNY New Paltz.
