The winter/spring round of the Young Mountain Yoga training and certification program will take place from February to April. This new Yoga Alliance program will give participants hands-on instruction and guidance on how to create classes and share yoga with children and teens from pre-K through grade 12. “It also will deepen and/or support your own yoga practice,” says facilitator Gabriela Chinnock.
The program includes exploration of asanas (postures), breathing techniques, anatomy geared towards children and teens, mindfulness exercises, implementing meditation for different age groups, yoga games, yoga philosophy, and teaching methodology. The program is divided into
four weekend modules and practicum. Participants are invited to take one module or all four for a complete yoga alliance certification.
Amy Hough, who completed the modules this fall explains, “The Young Mountain Yoga certification program was truly life changing for me. I left each module feeling so inspired to bring my love of yoga to children. The instructors provided a creative, judgment free and informative environment and covered a wide range of topics. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wishes to teach yoga to children and teens.”
Free children and teen demos, followed by open information forums about the Young Mountain program will take place on January 26 and 27. The dates for the upcoming weekend modules are February 22-24, March 15-17, April 12-14 and May 17-19.
