Geralyn Petrilyak-O’Rourke, physical therapist and John F. Barnes Myofascial Release (JFB MFR) therapist, has new office space in Nyack. She recently relocated to Rockland County from NYC and brings with her more than seventeen years professional and clinical experience. She works with all age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents and adults.
Her treatment style has transitioned from a traditional healing approach to more holistic whole body one after recognizing that patients were getting better, but not staying better. Many of her current patients have reported that more traditional treatments have not helped them in the past.
Petrilyak-O’Rourke had experienced her own challenges including cervical disc pain and Myofascial pain associated with Lyme Disease. “As a result of my experiences, I discovered the missing link to my treatment approach….John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach. It is a mind/body approach that is safe, gentle and consistently effective in relieving pain and avoiding surgery,” she shares.
JFB MFR therapy is a non-invasive manual therapy approach that consists of gentle application of sustained pressure into fascial restrictions. It can help address pain associated with, but not limited to, neck pain, back pain, headaches, chronic pain, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, digestive disorders, chronic fatigue, post-traumatic stress and sports injuries. In addition, Petrilyak-O’Rourke specializes in treating a wide range of women’s health issues, including pelvic pain, problematic breast implant/reduction scars, vulvodynia, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, mastectomy pain, menstrual problems, adhesions, painful intercourse and infertility.
