The South Orange Family YMCA (SOFY) family membership has many member benefits says Branch Executive Director, Ross Miceli. Families have access to over 80 group exercise classes for no additional fee. Included with membership, families can take advantage of volleyball, basketball, soccer, Beat the Street for teens, Parent’s Night Out for ages 3-9, Intro to Weight Lifting for teens, Beyond Barre, Mambo Salsa classes for adults and much more. They also offer Child Watch (3 months to 6 years of age), a Youth Center (6-12 years of age), as well as a full court gymnasium with designated times for teens, adults and families.
“In addition to offering access to exciting youth and adult classes and programs, the Y also is about bringing the community together with various special events throughout the year such as Family Nights with different themes and activities,” says Miceli.
Because SOFY is about bringing the community together, they offer membership assistance to families who are struggling financially. According to Miceli, “We are able to do this through our Strong Kids Campaign which raises funds through donations and events throughout the year, such as the Strong Kids Car Wash on May 10 and our Strong Kids BBQ Picnic on May 17 (rain date May 18).”
Our first annual Strong Kids BBQ will offer members and the community a chance to enjoy good food, games, raffles and more while helping us to raise money for families in need.
Location: South Orange Family YMCA, 45 Gilbert Street Extension, Monroe. To make a donation, contact Ross Miceli at 857-9196 or email@example.com. For more information, call 782-9622 or visit MiddletownYMCA.org.
