This weekend yoga certification program will give you hands on instruction and guidance on how to create your own classes and share yoga with children and/or teens. It also will deepen and support your own yoga practice.
“The program will appeal to anyone who works with youth, such as teachers, health care professionals and therapists, and wants to explore passing on the many benefits of yoga with children and teens as a way to support their busy and often-stressful lives” says Nancy Mahon, owner of Sanctuary Yoga studios.
The curriculum encompasses every facet of traditional yogic study: asana, pranayama, meditation, practicing and teaching, creating lesson plans, classroom management, using games, rhythms, and chants, anatomy and physiology of children and teens, yoga for children with special needs and more.
Weekend workshops include training in Grounding and Centering in Yoga on January 11-12, Stretching and Strengthening Yoga on February 22-23, Mindfulness and Meditation Yoga on March 15-16 and Self-Regulation and Teaching Methodology in Yoga on April 12-13.
Participate in any one module or take all four modules + practicum for a full Yoga Alliance certification.
Location: Sanctuary Yoga Studios, 132 Park Ave, New City. Register by January 7 for the first module at SanctuaryYogaStudios.com. For more information, contact 548-1090 or Sanctuaryyoga@optimum.net.
