Liz Whalen, Ayurvedic Wellness Coach, yoga instructor, and Reiki practitioner, enjoys working with clients to make lifestyle changes that will last and can bring the body, mind and spirit back into balance. “Ayurveda is an ancient healing system originating over five thousand years ago in India,” she says. “The literal translation is ‘The Science of Life.’ It’s a universal system of healing, recently gaining momentum in the West.”
According to Whalen, Ayurveda recognizes that humans exist on multiple levels, and by addressing the needs of the individual at each level, a profound shift can take place, rather than continuously chasing the symptoms of an illness.
Ayurveda incorporates a variety of approaches, including Ayurvedic nutrition, herbs, gentle movement, meditation, breathing techniques, stress relief techniques, deep relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, energy healing, and more. “Everything is highly individualized based on the person’s unique constitution and needs,” says Whalen.
In her practice, Liz Whalen also utilizes Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) to analyze the energies that are influencing an individual’s life, and provides advice on remedial actions that can be taken to offset any negative influences. She also offers marma chikitsa on the face and head, which is the Ayurvedic equivalent to acupressure. Specific points located above the neck are excellent for relieving stress, anxiety and other mental tensions.
Her office also is equipped with a far infrared sauna for detoxification at the cellular level, improved circulation, weight loss, improved skin condition, reduced inflammation and pain, and relaxation.
Liz Whalen has a private practice in Piermont, teaches yoga and meditation and holds regular workshops locally. To learn more and to schedule a free consultation, call 201-344-4580 or visit TheWisdomofWellness.com.
