Acting Class Opportunity with Elyse Knight

The Union Arts Acting Lab presents “The Transformational Actor” acting class that will take place on Wednesday evenings. The class, taught by actor, director and teacher Elyse Knight, includes scene study, monologues, improvisation, sensory work and group exercises designed to bring expressiveness and flexibility to the voice and body.

In each class Knight guides participants in developing their individual talent and theatrical skills using a variety of acting techniques. “An ensemble is being developed from the class, with the goal of creating a work for public performances,” says Knight.

Knight grew up in Los Angeles, the daughter of actor Ted Knight. She has a BFA in drama from the University of Southern California, and has taught workshops for Caymichael Patten, Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey, and The Depot Theatre in Garrison. Knight was artistic director for the popular theatre troupe, Off World Theatre which has performed locally at the St. Charles AME Zion church in Sparkill, and at the Piermont Library.

Knight’s acting credits include film and television performances on NBC, A&E and CBS, as well as New York/regional theater performances.

The workshop, which begins on April 16, will average about 10-15 participants of varying experience levels. Students are encouraged to express themselves as individuals, as partners and in teams. Beginners are welcome.

There will be an introductory workshop on April 2.
